Secularism is a British construct for dividing India into Hindus and Muslims. It was a shrewd successful strategy with huge intellectual appeal at that time. Like, socialism for Moscow. More over, I personally prefer simple things like- jobs, safety for women and children, home for people, free health care etc than some "isms". In hindsight, capitalist countries could meet this much better than Socialists...similarly. Hinduism has shown more tolerance than any other religion. Being staunch Hindu itself is being highly secular .... its bit paradoxical..
